Mayor of Dartford’s Events 13th – 17th May 14

Gravesham Annual General Meeting & Mayor Making Ceremony
On the 13th of May, the Mayor of Dartford attended the Annual General Meeting in Gravesham, where their new Mayor was named. The Mayor of Dartford would like to congratulate the new Mayor Cllr. John Caller and his wife, Sue, who is now Mayoress. He would also like to congratulate Gurdip Ram Bungar on his position as Deputy Mayor of Gravesham.Mayor of Dartford Avtar Sandhu MBE

Business Networking International 
On May the 14th, the Mayor attended a networking event set up by Business Networking International (BNI), where many local business men and women attended. The Mayor has stated that it was good to see the support available for local businesses at the BNI event.

Royal Bank of Scotland Networking Event
The Royal Bank of Scotland Group (RBSG) has announced that they will be investing into the re-commission of the Williams and Glyn branch of banks. The Mayor attended a pre-launch networking event arranged by RBSG on the 15th of May, which was well attended by representatives from around twenty to twenty-five businesses.

Drama Showcase at the Mick Jagger Centre 
In the evening of the 15th of May, the Mayor attended a Drama Showcase event set up by Dartford Grammar School, in which the students presented their drama skills to the audience, which came in forms of singing, acting and poetry recital.

Temple Hill School May Fair 
On Friday the 16th of May, the Mayor – alongside his escort, Kim Cooper – attended the Temple Hill School May fair, which featured may fair dancing, pony rides, the stocks and more. The Mayor was glad to see the children and their parents having fun at the fair.

chYps Charity Fire Walk Mayor of Dartford Avtar Sandhu MBE chYps
In the evening of Friday the 16th, the Mayor and Mayoress of Dartford took part in a charity fire walk event set up by chYps – a charity designed to help and support children and young people who are suffering from life-threatening illnesses. The Mayor himself walked on the coals, and seemed to thoroughly enjoy this unique experience!

Slimming World Clothes Throw
On the 17th of May, the Mayor – accompanied by the Mayoress – was at function hall Amar Hall, where Slimming World held their charity clothes throw. This event raised about seven and a half thousand pounds for charity, and involved people throwing out their old clothes.

Official opening of the UK Fostering Centre
On the 17th of May, the Mayor and Mayoress attended the official opening of the UK fostering centre of Ukindo. As well as the Mayor and Mayoress, Amy Hickman from the BBC’s ‘Dumping Ground’ made an appearance at the event.

Wisdom Estate
On the 17th of May, the Mayor attended an event set up in Wisdom Estates to help support Cheryl Fergison in raising money for charity. He was accompanied by his wife, the Mayoress of Dartford. During the event, a multitude of events were taking place to encourage people to donate.

Wilmington Players – Death by fatal murder
Yet another event on the 17th of May, the Mayor attended this comedic murder mystery event with his escort Kim Cooper. The Mayor very much enjoyed the event, where he followed the trail of Inspector Pratt in the mystery of Death by Fatal Murder.

British Motorcross Championship 
On the 18th of May, the Mayor and his escort Kim Cooper attended the British Motorcross Championship, which took place at Canada Heights. The event was well attended and approximately 200 cross-country motorcyclists turned up. The Mayor rewarded the certificates after the event.

Big Brownie 100th birthday
On the 18th of May, the Mayor attended an event designed to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the anniversary of the brownie, which had 100 Brownies specially baked for it.
