Philippa Harris, an 18-year-old girl from Boughton Lees has hit a milestone in 2010 as she became the 100th person from Kent to complete the Duke of Edinburgh’s award in just one year.

The DofE was put in place around 35 years ago to help 14-24 year olds to undertake activities that allow them to help those in their communities as well as helping them to grow personally.

Phillippa Harris gained her Bronze and Silver Awards whilst still at school and later gained her Gold whilst undertaking activities such as dancing and a 4-day expedition. To congratulate her on her amazing achievement, Avtar Sandhu, Deputy Cabinet Member for Community Services attended a ceremony to personally give Phillippa Harris her award for her hard work and dedication to build herself and to help her community.
