Deputy Mayor of Dartford Opens Pantomime

Deputy Mayor of Dartford Avtar Sandhu MBE officially opened this year's Christmas time pantomime at the Orchard Theatre on the 26th September 2013. The Pantomime, which will run from the 14th December 2013 to the 4th January 2014 will be the story of Cinderella and will be put on by Qdos Entertainment - the largest pantomime company in the UK.

The pantomime is home to a star studded cast including the TV host and actor Bradley Walsh. Avtar attended the ceremony and took time to pose for pictures with the actors and actresses in the Acacia Hall grounds near Dartford Park.

The Orchard Theatre itself has seen record number of ticket sales for pantomimes in recent years as Qdos Entertainment has brought their dazzling special effects and 3d imagery. Cinderella is tipped to be one of the biggest yet and Deputy Mayor Avtar Sandhu said, 'It is such an honour opening something that brings the likes of Bradley Walsh to Dartford. Pantomimes bring Dartford together around Christmas time and New Year and I am glad to be a part of it.'

The Deputy Mayor of Dartford, Avtar Sandhu MBE attended a Macmillan Cancer fundraising coffee morning on 26th September 2013. The event was held at Hesketh Park Bowls Club's hall in Dartford where small stalls were set up to sell cakes, tea, coffee and small raffles were put on with all proceeds going to Macmillan Cancer Research.

Avtar was invited to attend by the organisers and after the event he said, 'It is great to see all of the hard work and dedication the residents of Dartford are putting in to support such a great cause which I am sure is close to many of their hearts. It makes me and should make all Dartfordians proud.'

Macmillan Cancer Research ask people across the UK to hold coffee mornings for their friends, families and local residents where all of the proceeds go to the charity. In the year 2012 Macmillan raised a record 15,000,000GBP from coffee mornings and are well on their way to another good fundraising year thanks to the people of the UK.
